How is Daily Value (%DV) calculated?
On an FDA Nutrition Facts panel, the percent Daily Value (%DV) tells consumers how much a nutrient in one serving contributes to a daily diet. It is computed as: (amount per serving ÷ Reference Daily Intake) × 100. The result is rounded to the nearest 1%.
What are RDI / Daily Values?
Reference Daily Intake (RDI) values are the FDA-established daily reference amounts for essential nutrients (e.g. Vitamin C 90 mg, Calcium 1,300 mg). Under 21 CFR 101.9, these are the denominators used to derive %DV on both Nutrition Facts and Supplement Facts panels. The calculator above uses the same official RDI figures as the FDA regulations, so you can trust the result matches what your printed label should show.
